“The Reckoning"


Dates: Sunday 21st – Thursday 25th June – Daily from 4pm - Free Entry.

Venue: Institute of Modern Languages, Wellington College UK.

An opportunity to see brand new work by artist Sophie Collier. Solo show “The Reckoning” takes its title from Collier’s recently completed painting of the same name. Initially inspired by Boticelli’s “The Birth of Venus”, “The Reckoning” combines traditional artistic aesthetics and approaches with the artist’s own unique painting style, and explores many of the issues facing Western Society in 2009.

The show also features a selection of Collier’s portraits, abstract paintings, and film work, and includes drawings taken from her recent collection entitled “99 Boards”.

Sophie Collier studied Fine Art at The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University (St. Catherine’s College). Notable achievements include being short listed for the prestigious Bloomberg New Contemporaries Exhibition, and exhibiting at the London ICA as part of Beck’s Futures Film and Video Award, in which she was a prize-winner.
